1890-1972. An English bird artist born Rainham, Kent. He remained a bachelor. He was educated in Rochester and the Regent Street Polytechnic, and then specialised in bird and mammal painting, with annual one-man shows of paintings and separately published etchings at Ackermann Galleries.Among his etchings were snipe, Canada geese, mallard and kingfishers. He lectured on bird watching and how to draw birds, with a particular interest in birds in flight. He painted bird studies in watercolours, also large frescoes in oil. The son of a Kent taxidermist and previous employee of London's Natural History Museum. He later joined the Army in the 1st World War and afterwards resumed his interest for ornithology and watercolours.
