ALQ 131 ECM Pods and underwing fuel tanks. The Scenario: Just below the jets and in the bottom right of the print, 4 Serb Galebs have just bombed a target and are heading back to friendly airspace. The F-16's have been vectored to intercept and are awaiting clearance from E-3 AWACS to attack. On this particular day, the aggressors got away. However, 'life follows art', and on 26th March 1999 on day 3 of the Kosovo Air War. During Op 'Allied Force' and just as this print was being handed to the Dutch Air Force. A Dutch F-16 from 322 Sqn, flying from Amendola Air Base in Italy, succesfully engaged and shot down a Serbian Mig 29 in a very similar scenario |
