Born in Norwich. Studied at Reading University and Norwich School of Art where he later taught general subjects in the Junior Art Department. Also taught at the Hewett School, Norwich. A member of the Norwich Twenty Group. Exhibited with the RI of which he was elected a member, at the RA from 1948, the NEAC and also various other exhibitions in London and the provinces.  He lived at North Walsham. An East Anglian landscape painter in watercolour, many of his pictures have been used to illustrate books and other publications.
