Chris Hurst, BA Hons, At twenty- seven years of age Chris has already secured patronage in many parts of the United Kingdom as well as New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Australia, USA, Netherlands and Crete. He has traveld widely in Northern Europe and Scandinavia for inspiration. Chris uses his vast knowledge of colour and form to make his work. He is committed to the pleasure of others in creating paintings that exude positive energy and spiritual dynamism.
Chris graduated as a artist from the UK 2002 and since then he has been focusing his research on the process based development of his painting. This has been a result of his final degree thesis study focusing on Spontaneous & Intuitive Forms of Art which combined his prior certificate of Education experience (Teaching Studies with Art) and interest towards child Art Therapy. This was a period when he was working closely with Professional Art Therapists such as Roger Argile, Bexhill­on-Sea and other Art Education professionals in the UK to gain an in depth understanding not only about his own working process but also the different ways his painting could be used to interact with the viewer.
In 2002 Chris initiated his first international painting exhibition in Bergen, Norway as part of a university project. Soon after in 2003 he received a design commission for a new Lloyds Bar Project in co-operation with Inspire Design Consultancy, UK and shortly after this success he moved to the Netherlands to set up residence and permanent studio there. This has been a base for him as he has developed his work, traveling extensively in Italy/ Europe and Scandinavia and actively involved in the organization of new exhibitions for the promotion of his paintings. His last exhibition in The Netherlands was in Amsterdam where he combined his work with interior design and furniture..
